Customized Yahoo Weather Widget
Simply because I love Seattle's weather
Throughout the ages weather has been on everyone’s tongue as an icebreaker for discussion or among farmers sowing seeds in the Fertile Crescent. I have worked on this widget with the help of the good people over at SimplePie. Using the code library created by SimplePie I have customized this widget to display Seattle’s weather. Over 30 different images are needed for displaying the various weather conditions. I will continue to update and design a cohesive family of imagery so stay tuned.

I am currently working on a project with a San Francisco based online art magazine Stretcher. I am partnered with MacFadden & Thorpe on the design and build of Stretcher's new online publishing effort. We will be using Expression Engine as the content management system. Stay tuned for updates.

Chronicle Books
Home page + site redesign
I worked with Chronicle books in 2007 to redesign the home page and e-commerce experience for their online customers. The current design was a result of many explorations which considered both the character of the brand, a best-in-class online e-commerce user experience, and an easily maintainable design solution.

Backyard Birdsongs
Mini-site design + development
I designed and developed this micro-site with Wordpress in mind as an accessible means for expansion and updates by non-technical staff for this beautifully rich book series. Each of the 18 birds have audio recordings and illustrations depicting both the birds and their region of habitat. The site also functions as a marketing tool to drive traffic back to Chronicle Books.

E-commerce is a competitive business and organizations must constantly be evaluating their analytics, customer feedback and industry standards to sustain and grow. Working with the marketing team I recognized inefficiencies in the check out process and the visual design rhythm. The result was a smoother more confident check-out experience.

Wesite design + development
This site was designed and developed to invigorate momentum with the widely popular Porn for Women book series. The site features a blog, e-post cards, share with a friend and a custom design quiz to see how amazing your partner really is. The site is entirely developed on Wordpress and allows for easy updates by internal staff and authors to keep the blog and marketing materials fresh.

R.E.M.: HELLO Tour blog

R.E.M. toured the states a few years ago to promote HELLO and Chronicle Books published a rich photo documentary style history by photographer David Belisle. The CMS allowed the photographer to easily make updates while on tour. I worked with David to train him on Wordpress and developed a customized screen cast for reference after launch of the site.

The Chronicle Books Blog is a success story largely due to a simple easy to maintain design and a wonderfully creative writing team. It boasts hundreds of unique visitors and steadily growing quality referrals. The blog allows editors, authors, and marketing directors a chance to speak directly to their consumer and trade audiences and listen to the conversation too.

Email marketing can have a lot of stigma attached to it but with a solid list and great design and content it can be one of the most powerful direct marketing tools for a business. I designed and developed rich templates and illustrations to help people clearly identify the content of the email campaign.

I collaborated closely with Naylor Design Inc of Washington D.C. to design and launch an online portfolio that offered more than simple showing client work. The site has a quiet story being told about the way in which the studio thinks through a project with the sketching intro animations rather than the expected load sequences of a Flash site.

Over the past two seasons I have partnered with Naylor Design Inc to produce online content for the National Portrait Galleries Portrait of an Artist competition.
